Essex Police Press Office

The Press Office is open seven days a week and will answer media enquiries in order of priority. Responses to matters involving more serious crime will take precedence. Press Officers will provide information proactively about major incidents, fatal road traffic collisions and other offences including assaults, sexual offences and murders. These will be released via this media centre to journalists as well as being released to the public via the force website www.essex.police.uk and our Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Journalists are asked to submit their enquiries at the earliest opportunity. Please always advise of any deadline you are working to which will assist us in the prioritisation of the requests we are dealing with.

Where statements are required about crimes which are ongoing or where they fit in to the categories listed above please call the office on 01245 452450. Where statements are required for matters of a less serious nature please email us at pressoffice@essex.pnn.police.uk

Opening hours

The Press Office is open seven days a week and on public holidays. A press officer is on call for emergencies every night.

Hours of opening:

Monday - Friday 7.15am – 5.15pm
Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays 9am - 4pm

For major incidents, the out of hours answer phone message will give you the contact number for the Force Control Room and if deemed necessary they will contact the duty press officer. The control room with not deal with any routine matters.
